Saint Sava's Day (Savindan) is celebrated on January 27 (January 14 according to the Julian calendar) and is an important holiday for Serbs and other Orthodox Christians. Saint Sava is considered one of the most revered saints in Serbia and the founder of the Serbian Orthodox Church.

He was a monk and the son of the Serbian Tsar Stefan Nemanja. Sava founded a monastery on Mount Athos in Greece and later became the first archbishop of the Serbian Church. His work had a significant impact on the spread of Christianity in Serbia and the development of Serbian culture. Saint Sava was canonized after his death, and his legacy has become an important part of Serbian identity and culture.

Rites and Traditions
Church Services. On Saint Sava's Day, special services are held in Orthodox churches, where believers pray and commemorate the saint.

Education and Culture. This holiday is also considered Teachers' and Students' Day in Serbia. Events dedicated to Saint Sava are held in educational institutions, including concerts, exhibitions and thematic lectures.

Traditional dishes. In some regions, it is customary to prepare special dishes on this day, such as blessed bread and honey, which symbolize generosity and prosperity.

Gifts and greetings. In Serbia, many people exchange greetings and gifts in honor of the holiday, which emphasizes its familial and community nature.
